Turner Cody arrived at the Sidewalk Cafe in New York City in the fall of 1999 and cut his songwriting teeth alongside other members of New York’s Anti-Folk scene. Over the following two decades, he released a dozen albums — from This Springtime and Others and Who Went West to The Duke of Decline — charting a singular path through folk, rock, and poetry. His songs, rich in literary and cinematic references, have earned him a devoted following in both the US and Europe.
In 2018, Cody began collaborating with Belgian singer-songwriter Nicolas Michaux and his band The Soldiers of Love. This partnership led to the founding of Capitane Records, which released Cody’s Friends in High Places in 2021. Produced by Michaux and featuring The Soldiers of Love, the record marked the beginning of a new creative chapter.
Cody’s forthcoming album, Out For Blood, set for release in 2026 on Capitane, once again brings together Michaux and The Soldiers of Love.
Ambitious and cinematic, it may well be the defining work of his long and unpredictable career.
